New Wildlife Cam

 New Wildlife Cam

A new wildlife cam has been added to my arsenal of camera accessories recently.  A hunter type waterproof camera, it most importantly has a motion sensor.  When set up in the field, photographs will be taken of anything that crosses the field of view of the motion sensor.

The Moultrie A-30 series camera, is one of the less expensive, entry level, 12 Mp basic models.  The new Browning Strike Force HD Pro 18mp camera is an upgrade because the Moultrie failed after two months.  The upgraded camera also qualifies me to register for the NC citizen scientist program which is working to inventory wildlife in North Carolina.  The main reason I wanted one, is just to figure out the daily routine of the many kinds of wildlife I have.  Consequently, a time stamp on each picture does just that.   Soooo, first, an understanding of where to effectively locate my photo blinds is gained.  And second, there is some knowledge of the timing to occupy and be prepared for getting some pictures with my good camera and lenses.  Lots of patience is then the last thing needed to make it happen .

Here are some nice results from the first 48 hours I set it up.

And two, not so good pics, of a quick moving fawn.

New Photo Blind

Here is a picture of the rough framed version of the new photo blind just coming out of the shop.  Not exactly a portable pop-up.  🙂  Call it semi-portable, semi-permanent.  The painted and installed version next.  Eventually, stuff will grow around the edges and the placement of some low brush and branches to break up the outline even more will help.

And I’ll add a set of pictures from the second 48 hours.

Thanks for the Look

Very cool Frank! I like the one with the fox and deer in the same frame. I thought about putting one of these near my chicken coop to see what kind of preditors are roaming the city streets. Keep up the good work!
