Weekend in Wildwood New Jersey — 2017
This was actually our annual family reunion weekend in Wildwood, NJ. (The above sign is plural representing 3 areas, Wildwood, Wildwood Crest, and North Wildwood.) It was a great time with family, visiting and talking about all kinds of happenings going on now, and reminiscing about past fun. But – I took advantage of the opportunity to get some pictures of all kinds. As you will see, I took a lot of pictures, and I probably should break this up and post these in separate Blogs.
My wife and I arrived in Cape May on the ferry and spent some time on Sunset Beach. Here are a couple of pics of cactus flowers I found near the beach. From there it was just a short drive up the coast to check in at the motel in Wildwood.
Underwater Photo Fun
I figured there would be plenty of fun around the pool, so I had decided to bring the ‘Koi Cam’. Here is the link for an earlier May 26th Blog page titled ‘My Inexpensive Koi Cam Photo Shoot’. It explains the setup I used, except I rigged up a way to put on a top and make it splash proof. It worked out really well. Thank-you Nathan for being the WIFI trigger man on the iPad, while I was maneuvering around in the pool with the camera. All I can say is, it was a fun experiment that resulted in some really nice pics.
Wildwood Jeep Invasion -2017
It also happened to be the same weekend as an annual event called the Wildwood Jeep Invasion. There must of been over 2000 jeeps out on the sand for the event. There were of course vendors, doing the sales promotion thing, but they had also set up an obstacle course for the Jeep owners to test their skills and have some fun. Here are the pics I got before the heat chased me back to the motel. Oh Yeah. The last shot is one of the Monster Energy Drink girls posing at their booth. Couldn’t resist.
As always, click on the pic for the full size larger view.
Beach Pictures Including Sunrise And Sunset
Of course I had to get out on the beach and take advantage of the ‘magic’ hour. The 30 minutes before and after sunrise/sunset when the light is so good for photography. Wildwood actually cleans and rakes the beach sand every night. And it is a huge beach. Well over a hundred yards from the start to the shore line. The textured sand you see in some of the pictures is a result of the tractor work that keeps the beach in such great condition. It took getting up before 5:00 AM to get some of these pictures. And I included 5 pics of the sunrise just to show how much it changed in a very short amount of time.

I’ll close with an evening picture of one of the boardwalks rollercoasters
Thanks for the look
