Photography class location shoot with a model.

A location shoot with a model

The photography class I’m taking hired a model for a location shoot the other day.  The location was at the North Carolina Botanical Gardens in Chapel Hill, NC.  Not much to say here….. The instructor left us pretty much on our own to use what we have learned to get the pictures of our choice.  Thank you Claire, for your time and patience with a group of students.

We shot in several locations in the gardens, with several wardrobe changes.   The instructor chose the individual locations and positioned the model.  All of us were trying to work out our own best photo angles, camera settings, flash settings, etc.  The challenge for me was trying to manage the shutter speed for getting the amount of ambient light I wanted, and balancing that with the flash settings to get the right amount of fill.  So here are my choices of the pictures I took.

I am showing two sets of each picture.  The first is with just some basic adjustments to the pic after it came out of the camera.  The second copy of the pic shows stronger enhancements for display effect.  You be the judge.

And here is a conversion to black and white.
